Shaw Industries Carpet Cleaning Policy
Critical factors which must be considered when choosing a carpet cleaning system include the training/ability of the technician, how effectively the system initially cleans, how it enhances the appearance retention of the carpet, and the fact that residue must be minimal.
Shaw Industries’ policy is based on laboratory testing and field experience. Shaw’s policy is to use HOT WATER EXTRACTION done by a trained carpet cleaning professional. Research has shown that this method provides the best capability for thorough cleaning which results in optimum carpet performance, appearance and user satisfaction.
Furthermore, many carpet companies offer home applications of soil or stain protection treatments. Shaw Industries has adopted a policy, which dictates that the application of soil retardants or similar treatments to our carpet without prior written approval will result in our warranty being voided.
This is in response to the proliferation of silicone-based anti-soil agents nationwide.
Research has shown that although these products do provide water repellent characteristics, soiling may actually be accelerated, Oily stains and soil are not repelled and the dry dusty soil normally removed by vacuuming is held tightly on the fiber.
We approve the use of only 3M’s Scotchguard Carpet Protector and DuPont’s Teflon Soil and Stain repellent on Shaw Industries, Inc. Carpets. Beware of Claims if “the same as‒ etc., if in doubt, ask to see the container.
Training is the most important factor in the cleaning process; Shaw Industries’ policy is that cleaning technicians must be trained and certified under the auspices of the International Institute of Cleaning and Restoration Certification. Further supporting this policy is the fact that IICRC programs require continuing education in order to maintain certification.
